Training Camp Diary: Ready for the riders

16. gennaio 2010

Santa Rosa

The riders on the BMC Racing Team have not yet arrived in Santa Rosa (California), for the start of training camp, but already the service course is a beehive of activity.

Soigneurs Graeme McCallum, Kaycee Evans and Trudi Rebsamen spent much of Friday processing a large shipment of clothing from the team’s official apparel sponsor, Hincapie Sportswear.

Enough clothing
Inside the dozens of boxes was enough clothing to outfit each rider (jerseys, shorts, gloves, socks, etc.) for training and early-season races, as well as casual clothing for riders and staff members. And Friday’s shipment of more than 20 cartons wasn’t even the half of it. More than 40 other boxes were shipped by Hincapie Sportswear in Greenville, S.C., directly to the BMC Racing Team’s service course in Belgium.

Double check
On the other side of the team’s warehouse, Chief Mechanic Ian Sherburne and four others worked to ready nearly two dozen BMC pro machine SLC01s and racemaster SLX01s. Easton Sports training wheels sporting Continental tires were prepared and each BMC was double-checked for the proper measurements, assuring each rider the proper fit and comfort the first time out. Saturday, the riders will begin arriving in Santa Rosa to open the 14-day training camp.
