BMC Racing Team’s Johann Tschopp took a solo victory in Tour of Utah and is now in the race lead before the race’s last day.
« A Wonderful Day »
The fifth stage of Tour of Utah was a very hard stage, said BMC Racing Team’s assistant sport director Michael Sayers said « there were very hard climbs », said Sayers. On the last descent Michael Schär went in front on the descent with Liquigas-Cannondale « there has been few attacks but many riders were dropped » said Sayers. And with 5 km remaining, Johann Tschopp launched an attack and stayed alone in the lead, he made a 1 minute gap until he won the stage and took the race overall. « That’s a wonderful day for the BMC Racing Team as for Johan, it’s very good », said Sayers. Sunday’s last stage should be a more selective day, said Sayers, « it twill be a very narrow and dangerous road.»
