Tour of Beijing, Stage 4: Kristoff Sixth

Shunyi Olympic Rowing and Canoeing Centre, China

Alexander Kristoff registered his second top 10 placing for the BMC Racing Team at the Tour of Beijing – and his 15th of the season – with sixth in the bunch sprint that ended Saturday's 189.5-kilometer stage which passed by the Great Wall of China.

Bookwalter Withdraws

Kristoff said he lost much of his speed in the final 50 meters as he tried to thread his way between riders sprinting on opposite sides of the road. Elia Viviani (Liquigas-Cannondale) took the win. "I think I could taken it if I did not get blocked," said Kristoff, who was fifth on Stage 2. "All the guys on the team worked well and I had good support in the sprint, but just didn't find an open line in the last 100 meters and got boxed in." Tony Martin (HTC-Highroad) kept the overall lead. BMC Racing Team's Brent Bookwalter, who was involved in a crash on Stage 2, was a non-starter. "He rode to the start and his knee was hurting too much," Dr. Scott Major said. "He'll be fine. There's no long term damage."
