Tour de Suisse, Stage 2: Frank's Escape

13. giugno 2010

Sierre, Switzerland

Hopes for a stage win for Mathias Frank of the BMC Racing Team were dashed Sunday when his breakaway group was caught near the finish. But the Swiss did not go unrewarded – earning the King of the Mountains jersey and "most competitive" honors on Stage 2 of the Tour de Suisse.

In Good Position For GC

Frank said a tailwind helped during his nearly 160 km in the lead with four others. "We were rolling pretty fast and I attacked on the last climb to keep the chance," Frank said. "It was sad to be caught with three kilometers to go." Four BMC Racing Team riders (Frank, George Hincapie, Alex Moos and Steve Morabito) finished in the lead group of 66, led by Hincapie's 11th place. "It's really good to have all our leaders for the GC in the front," BMC Racing Team Director Sportif John Lelangue said. " It means they are coming on good form at a good moment." Heinrich Haussler (Cervelo Test Team) won the stage.
