Tour de Romandie, Stage 1: Bunch sprint

24. aprile 2013

Dominik Nerz was the BMC Racing Team's best finisher in Wednesday's bunch sprint that ended the first road stage of the Tour de Romandie.

Thursday Finish Showcases New Velodrome
Nerz finished 14th as Gianni Meersman (Omega Pharma-Quick Step) won the 176.4-kilometer race and Chris Froome (Sky Procycling) kept the overall lead. BMC Racing Team's Adam Blythe had been riding second wheel behind teammate Marcus Burghardt in the final kilometer. "It was a good job by the guys and especially Marcus to get Adam up there in the final kilometer, but he didn't have the legs in the last 300 meters," Assistant Director Yvon Ledanois said. Danilo Wyss, who had been part of the lead-out train, said Thursday's finish – which will be in front of the new Velodrome Suisse in Grenchen, home to the headquarters of BMC Switzerland – is one the entire BMC Racing Team is looking forward to contesting. "It can be a bunch sprint tomorrow, but with less riders," Wyss said. "I think it will be more of a group of about 60. Everybody is looking forward to this stage and I hope we can do well."
