Circuit Franco-Belge, Stage 2: Zahner's Misfortune

1. ottobre 2010

Poperinge, Belgium

One moment, Simon Zahner was in a group of 18 riders breaking away late in Friday's stage of Circuit Franco-Belge. Minutes later, the BMC Racing Team rider was stopped, the victim of a near crash.

Pushed Off The Road

"Around five kilometers before the finish, someone pushed me off the road in a corner and I hit a stone with both wheels and flatted both," Zahner said. "Because it was all split up, it was a long wait for a new BMC." Jacopo Guarnieri (Liquigas-Doimo) went on to win the stage and take the overall lead. Saturday's penultimate stage includes three categorized climbs early in the 158 km race.
