Epic Enduro World Series in Whistler

10. August 2014

Enduro World Series # 6, Crankworx, Whistler - Whistler, Canada

The Canadian resort town Whistler in the southern Pacific Ranges of the Coast Mountains in the province of British Columbia was host to the most epic endure race of the season. Riders took on five stages over eight hours to battle extreme heat, the dusty trails, 2500 metres of vertical climbing and some of the most technically challenging singletrack in North America. All four riders of the BMC Enduro Racing Team made their way to Canada for this epic adventure.

François Bailly-Maître had a good start into the ‘toughest raceday in a long time' as he called it. "I was really surprised how the stages had changed from when we trained on them. There were deep ruts and the trails got a lot rougher but we tried to adapt as quickly as possible. I wanted to conserve some energy on the first two stages to make it count on the last two crucial runs. I'm super happy with the 7th place", so the Frenchman on another top 10 result.

Florian Golay had a slow start to the day but warmed up pretty fast. "This race takes everything out of the riders and we were at our limit. I'm surprised how many finishers there were nonetheless, and how high the level of riding was", said the Valaisan who placed 29th.

Aaron Bradford was battling the heat but managed to hold onto 31st spot. Kerstin showed another consistent race finishing 20th and takes a lot of experience from this epic ride back home.

With virtually no outside assistance allowed this race was a true adventure for all the riders that took part. Next stop for the Enduro World Series is Finale Ligure in Italy on October 4th - the final round of the series and where the 2014 World Champions will be decided.
