Double victory for the BMC- Athletes Ronnie Schildknecht and Sven Riederer

15. April 2013

Fastest bike split of the day on TM01: 12 minutes advantage over second
In his third race of the season, Ronnie Schildknecht cruised to victory of the Ironman South-Africa. Schildknecht started the year with a disappointing DNF at the Ironman Los Cabos, Mexico. After Mexico, the 6-times Ironman Switzerland winner decided to change his racing plans and added the Oceanside IM 70.3 to his calendar. Finishing fourth in the Californian middle distance contest assured Schildknecht that his was on schedule in his chase for a win and thus World Championships qualifying points. "Everything worked out just as I wanted: I could limit the damage during the swim, once I joined the leading group I observed the situation for a moment and decided to put the hammer down." With his bike split of 4:22:01, Schildknecht was more than 12 minutes faster on the 180k than the second best split. "I simply say TM01. It is the fastest bike out there."
The victory of Schildknecht was his 8th victory in an Ironman competition.
