Tour de l'Eurométropole, Stage 3: Lodewyck In The Break

5. October 2013

Sensing the danger of the finishing circuit Saturday at Tour de l'Eurométropole, BMC Racing Team's Klaas Lodewyck worked his way into a late breakaway. But his nine-man group group could not hold off a determined chase by the sprinters' teams and a third consecutive bunch sprint ended the 164.2-km race.

Lander Involved In Crash
"The final loop was so dangerous so it was better to be in the breakaway," Lodewyck said. "We were going quite well, but we lost some time on the final intermediate sprint because some of the guys thought it was for the victory." BMC Racing Team's Sebastian Lander was one rider involved in a crash on 13.5-km loop of the finishing circuit, but the former Danish national road champion was not seriously hurt, Assistant Director Max Sciandri said. Tyler Farrar (Garmin-Sharp) won the race ahead of Reinhardt Janse Van Rensburg (Argos-Shimano) and Arnaud Demare (FDJ.fr) as Jens Debusschere (Lotto Belisol Team) kept the overall lead. Yannick Eijssen, in 34th place, was the BMC Racing Team's best finisher.
