Karsten Kroon Recovering Well

27. April 2010

Santa Rosa / Maastricht

Karsten Kroon of the BMC Racing Team is on his way to recovery following successful surgery Monday to repair facial injuries he sustained in a crash last week at Fléche Wallonne.

Not Too Much Pain

The 90-minute surgery involved first breaking Kroon’s nose, before a pair of titanium plates were inserted into the right side of his face. Kroon said the pain is bearable and the Dutchman looks forward to being back on his BMC – possibly as soon as later this week, he said. “My surgeon, Dr. Van den Broeck, was happy with the result,” Kroon said. “He was able to do all the cutting from inside my mouth, even though the fracture of the cheekbone was extraordinarily high. So I will not have too much scar tissue visible.”
