Giro d’Italia, 10th stage: sunshine at last

18. May 2010

Bitonto, Italy

The task for the BMC Racing Team on the 220 km 10th stage of the Giro d’Italia from Avellino to Bitonto was to protect Cadel Evans.

Hectic Finale

“The day passed quietly, but the finale was very fast and hectic,” according to Cadel Evans, second in the overall Giro ranking. The American Tyler Farrar (Garmin Transitions) won the sprint finale. The cycling professionals were delighted at their luck with the weather on Tuesday: “The sun really did wonders for my cold today,” Michael Schär from Switzerland was happy to report after yesterday's rain battle. Tomorrow the longest stage of the Giro looms, 256 km into the mountains. The cyclists will cover the same distance again with both transfers.
