BMC Racing Team Looks Forward To Tour of Beijing

20. September 2011

Santa Rosa, California

The BMC Racing Team will race on the Asian continent when it competes in the inaugural edition of the Tour of Beijing, a WorldTour event, Oct. 5-9.

Exciting Race

The five-stage race begins with an 11.3 kilometer individual time trial that will be run on conventional road bikes. BMC Racing Team Assistant Director Michael Sayers said because the Tour of Beijing is a first-year race, not much is known about the courses. "What I do know is that it will be an exciting race in an amazing country," he said. "There are a lot of factors that will make it a good event." Brent Bookwalter said he is also excited to experience a new culture and new surroundings. "We don't get to see a lot of that and immerse ourselves in a whole lot of that during a bike race," he said. "But I've never been anywhere in Asia so just to see a new part of the world and see it through a bike race is a good opportunity."
