Cadel Evans Makes His Return

9. September 2010

Compiegne, France

Cadel Evans returns to racing this weekend for the BMC Racing Team for the first time since breaking his left elbow at the Tour de France. The world road champion  will compete in a pair of one-day races, Paris-Bruxelles and GP de Fourmies.

Totally Healthy

BMC Racing Team Directeur Sportif John Lelangue said Evans will be seeking race conditioning now that his elbow is fully healed. "The good thing is that he can extend his elbow completely with no pain," Lelangue said. "He will be racing to help the team and regain the conditioning that he is missing." Missing out on the two ProTour races in Canada was a disappointment, Lelangue said. "Cadel was unable to come to Canada because it was necessary to totally stop training after the Tour and do physical therapy," Lelangue said. "Since then, he's done some good altitude training."

Tougher Finish
A course change at Saturday's Paris-Bruxelles – which adds some climbing near the finish – should make it more selective in the final 30 kilometers, Lelangue said. "We will have a a look at in reconnaissance," he said. "If there is a group going away at that point that is important, we'll make sure we have someone in it. Otherwise, we'll prepare the sprint for Alexander Kristoff."
