Wyss 10th At Trofeo Laigueglia

16. February 2013

Danilo Wyss finished 10th Saturday at Trofeo Laigueglia as the BMC Racing Team competed for the first time this season in Italy.

Swarmed Near The Finish
Filippo Pozzato (Lampre-Merida) took the win in a two-up sprint against Francesco Reda (Androni-Giocattoli) after four riders broke away near the end of the 196.5 kilometer race. Wyss, who was part of another small chasing group, said his sprint wasn't the best on the downhill run to the finish. "With 500 meters to go, we really slowed down at the front, so guys came from behind with a lot of speed and passed me," he said. "I'm disappointed about my sprint but happy to be here because it was a hard race and it was good to be in the front." BMC Racing Team Assistant Director Max Sciandri said he was pleased with the overall result of the team. "The race went pretty well for us. I'm happy," he said. "There were 40 guys that came to the finish together and we had four in there – Danilo, Klaas Lodewyck, Ivan Santaromita (18th place) and Larry Warbasse."
