Tour of Qatar, Stage 2: Windy Team Time Trial

6. februari 2012

Lusail, Qatar

The BMC Racing Team finished eighth in Monday's wind-swept team time trial at the Tour of Qatar, 16 seconds behind stage winner Garmin-Barracuda.

'Difficult Time Trial'

Six of the BMC Racing Team's eight riders powered their BMC teammachine SLR01s across the finish line at the end of the 11.3-kilometer looping course. Directeur Sportif John Lelangue said the BMC Racing Team's first team time trial of the season was good preparation for future races against the clock. "Garmin did a really big performance but we did well," he said. "It was a difficult time trial due to the change of direction and the wind. We know there are four difficult stages to come and with the wind and changes of direction and bonification sprints everything is open." Tom Boonen retained the overall lead by a fraction of a second over Tyler Farrar (Garmin-Barracuda) on the strength of his Omega Pharma-Quick Step team's runner-up finish.
