Tour of Belgium, Stage 1: On The Attack

26. May 2011

Knokke-Heist, Belgium

BMC Racing Team's Greg Van Avermaet continually went on the attack Thursday, powering one breakaway after another and only being swept up in the final 250 meters on the opening road stage of the Tour of Belgium.

Murphy Climbs Overall

"I felt really good," Van Avermaet said. "I went in every break and with five kilometers to go, I went all in. If there was no headwind at 750 meters, I would have made it." André Greipel (Omega Pharma Lotto) won the stage and took the overall lead and BMC Racing Team's John Murphy moved up to ninth overall.

Giro d'Italia, Stage 18: Fast Day
San Pellegrino Terme, Italy – An extremely fast day at the Giro d'Italia saw Johann Tschopp of the BMC Racing Team finish with the group of overall leader Alberto Contador (Saxo Bank-Sungard), 4:33 behind a three-up sprint won by Eros Capecchi (Liquigas-Cannondale). "It was extremely crazy, fast stage," BMC Racing Team Assistant Director Fabio Baldato said. "There are two good climbs tomorrow so I hope we can try something."
