Tour De Wallonie One For Van Avermaet

18. juli 2013

BMC Racing Team's Greg Van Avermaet, a past winner of the Tour de Wallonie, likes what he sees in a review of the course and stages for the five-day race that begins Saturday.

Strong Team Includes Oss
"Every year, it is a little bit the same: two or three hard stages and no time trial, which is good for me to go for the general classification," Van Avermaet said. "The first and last days will be important and the last day is the same finish that I won in 2011. So I am looking forward to it and hope to give the team more victories after a good Tour of Austria." Van Avermaet and past world road champion Alessandro Ballan and Giro d'Italia Stage 11 runner-up Daniel Oss were part of the Tour of Austria squad that won three straight stages. Assistant Director Jackson Stewart said the BMC Racing Team is fielding a strong team which has a lot of local experience of the course. "Greg will be our favorite going in for the GC," he said. "But I am also expecting Taylor Phinney and Oss to be key components and capable of riding for stages and a good overall finish as well."
