Tour de Suisse, Stage 7: Bookwalter 10th; Frank Still 'Best Swiss'

15. juni 2012

Brent Bookwalter finished 10th in Friday's individual time trial at the Tour de Suisse while teammate Mathias Frank kept his lead in the "Best Swiss Rider" classification.

Cummings Finishes 15th
Bookwalter said the undulating, technical course over 34.3 kilometers played to his strengths. "Finally a course where you actually needed to touch your brakes a couple times," Bookwalter said. "I wish we had more time trials like this that the test your entire skill set – not just how many watts you can hammer out in a straight line or up a mountain. The bronze medalist in the U.S. national time trial last month was only 51 seconds off the winning time of Fredrik Kessiakoff (Astana Pro Team) while Frank finished 14th, 1:07 back. Steve Cummings was the third BMC Racing Team rider in the top 15, only five seconds slower than Frank on his BMC timemachine TM01. "I'm happy Steve did a good time because he showed that maybe he can have a selection for the Tour de France,"  BMC Racing Team Assistant Director Rik Verbrugghe said. Rui Costa (Movistar Team) increased his overall lead with eighth place on the day. Frank said being only 36 seconds out of the top 10 is encouraging. "I have to try everything in the next two days," he said. "There's two good stages with hard climbing to go, so I'll try my best."
