Tour de Suisse, Stage 4: Van Avermaet Seventh In Sprint

Huttwil, Switzerland

Greg Van Avermaet sprinted to seventh place for the BMC Racing Team Tuesday at the Tour de Suisse as the overall standings remained unchanged.

Blocked By Traffic

Van Avermaet said teammate George Hincapie helped move him into position in the final minutes of the 198-kilometer race. But in the home straight, Van Avermaet ran into traffic as Thor Hushovd (Garmin-Cervélo) took the win. "I wanted to get in better position (on the left) but the other riders were also coming left and I was blocked," Van Avermaet said. "If I can start in a better position, I will be much closer. It was still a good finish for me." Damiano Cunego (Lampre-ISD) retains the overall lead while Mathias Frank is best placed for the BMC Racing Team in 12th overall, 2:44 behind.
