Tour de Suisse: Morabito Fourth; Frank, Burghardt Win Jerseys

20. June 2010

Liestal, Switzerland

The BMC Racing Team enjoyed its most prolific result at the Tour de Suisse Sunday, with Steve Morabito finishing fourth overall, Mathias Frank winning the king of the mountain and intermediate sprints jerseys and Marcus Burghardt taking the points jersey.

Morabito Six Seconds Out Of Third

Morabito said he wasn't too disappointed that he slipped one place following the 26.9 individual time trial. The Swiss greatly improved on his previous best finish (23rd in 2008) and finished 23 seconds behind winner Frank Schleck (Team Saxo Bank). "This was a big race for the contenders for the Tour de France," Morabito said. "So for myself, it was a good effort and a great race for the team. After nine days, I wasn't fresh enough to do my best time trial today."

Burghardt Won Two Stages
Burghardt won Stages 5 and 7 for the BMC Racing Team on the home turf of its title sponsor and earned the points classification in a tie-breaker. Frank easily won the mountain jersey and took the sprint jersey by one point over Burghardt.
