Tour de Pologne, Stage 5: Van Avermaet Sprints To 12th; Frank Looks Ahead

14. July 2012

Greg Van Avermaet finished 12th for the BMC Racing Team Saturday while teammate Mathias Frank slid one place in the overall standings to 10th on the eve of the queen stage of the Tour de Pologne.

Hushovd Withdraws
Ben Swift won his second stage in another sprint finish as Frank finished 27th in the 163.1 kilometer race. "I felt pretty good and I hope I have good legs tomorrow," Frank said. "The profile looks quite hard. It's going to be the crucial stage of the race. There's still a lot of guys close together on the general classification so tomorrow we'll see who's strongest in this race." Former world champion Thor Hushovd did not start the race, citing ongoing health issues that have not been resolved, BMC Racing Team Dr. Scott Major said.
