Tour de Pologne, Stage 4: Beyer's Breakaway

3. augustus 2011

Cieszyn, Poland

Chad Beyer delivered on his goal of making the breakaway Wednesday for the BMC Racing Team at the Tour de Pologne, figuring in a four-man move and then soloing for nearly 30 kilometers before being brought back.

Pressure Off The Team

Beyer and three others escaped the peloton about 20 km into the 176.9 km race and built a 7:30 lead. When that advantage fell to about two minutes, Beyer attacked the final time up the major climb. "It was good to take pressure off the team on a tough stage," Beyer said. "It was also nice to see where I'm at my first race back from the Giro d'Italia. Finally, I have good legs. I just need my breathing to be a little better and I think I can do some really cool things." Peter Sagan (Liquigas-Cannondale) soloed to the win and took the race lead. Mauro Santambrogio (34th) was the BMC Racing Team's best finisher on the stage, 10 seconds behind Sagan.
