Tour de Pologne, Stage 1: Kristoff Second

31. July 2011

Warsaw, Poland

Alexander Kristoff earned his first podium placing at a UCI World Calendar ProTour race with his runner-up finish for the BMC Racing Team in the opening stage of the Tour de Pologne Sunday.

Good Help From Wyss

Marcel Kittel (Skil-Shimano) beat Kristoff to the line in the bunch sprint that concluded the 101.5 kilometer race in Warsaw. "Danilo Wyss did a super job for me," Kristoff said. "I was perfectly positioned, but my legs were not 100 percent at the end so I didn't make it around Kittel. But this is a good start." The Norwegian national road champion said Stage 2 could favor him as well. "I remember it from last year," Kristoff said. "It's the same lap at the end so I know the sprint well and will try again tomorrow."
