Three Days of De Panne, Stage 1: The Pursuit

29. March 2011

Zottegem, Belgium

The BMC Racing Team contributed to a furious pursuit Tuesday on the opening stage of Three Days of De Panne, but it was not enough to reel in a small breakaway group.

Ballan And Quinziato Strong

André Greipel (Omega-Pharma-Lotto) took the win from a four-man break that narrowly survived to the finish. Danilo Wyss, in 14th place, was the BMC Racing Team's best finisher. "We didn't know who was at the front," Wyss said. "(Manuel) Quinziato and (Alessandro) Ballan rode hard at the end, but we couldn't catch the break." BMC Racing Team Assistant Director Michael Sayers said: "It was good to see Quinziato have a good day in his first race back from illness."
