Three Days of De Panne, Final Day: Strong Finish

31. March 2011

De Panne, Belgium

BMC Racing Team's Alexander Kristoff sprinted to fifth in the penultimate stage of the Three Days of De Panne Thursday, while teammate Manuel Quinziato finished 16th overall.

Quinziato Pleased

Kristoff said a mechanical problem kept him from giving 100 percent in the 111 km race won by Jacopo Guarnieri (Liquigas-Cannondale) that began the dual stage day. "I thought my chain was going to break, so I didn't dare stand up to sprint," he said. "For sure, I would have managed a podium spot or maybe better." Sebastien Rosseler (Team RadioShack) won the 14.7 km time trial and took the overall win. Quinziato said he was pleased with his performance. "Now I just need to recover a few days," he said. "Then I think I'll be ready to do my part on Sunday."
