Multiple Objectives For Tour of Oman

11. February 2012

Santa Rosa, California

The BMC Racing Team heads to the Tour of Oman with dual objectives for the six-day race that begins Tuesday, Assistant Director Michael Sayers said.

Blythe 10th At Qatar

"Our ambitions are to get a stage win and to have someone finish high in the overall standings," Sayers said. Candidates for the general classification include former world road champion Alessandro Ballan and Marco Pinotti, who finished fourth in Oman in 2010. Expected to contest the field sprints are Taylor Phinney and Adam Blythe, who was second on Stage 1 at the Tour of Qatar on the way to 10th place in the final standings. Blythe said he's ready to go despite a rough-and-tumble week at Qatar that included a crash that bruised his hip. "I've never done this race before, but you can't get any racing like it back home this time anywhere in Europe," he said. "I'm off to a good start and I've got a good foundation to build upon."
