17. September 2010

Koolskamp, Belgium

The BMC Racing Team put in a good showing Friday in the 95th Kampioenschap van Vlaanderen in Koolskamp, Belgium. Alexander Kristoff took 7th place in the sprint.

“Working as a team”
Over the 15 rounds and 182.6 kilometers in West Flanders, a quartet of riders quickly formed that led the rest of the pack by up to two minutes. Mauro Santambrogio and Steve Morabito of the BMC Racing Team set the pace behind. Around 40 kilometers from the finish line, the gap had narrowed to 30 seconds. Martin Kohler describes: “There were many attacks. Then I set off with eight riders, but we were overtaken. Cadel also tried his luck in a group.” By the last round, the field was complete again. Australian Leigh Howard (HTC Columbia) won the mass sprint. “We worked very well as a team,” Martin Kohler concluded at the finish.
