Gran Piemonte A Warm-Up For Lombardia

14. October 2010

Cherasco, Italy

Steve Morabito (24th) and Karsten Kroon (84th) were the BMC Racing Team's two finishers Thursday at Gran Piemonte as Cadel Evans and the rest of the squad looked ahead to Saturday's Giro di Lombardia.

Nervous Finale

Morabito was in the front at the base of the last of three major climbs. "But with four kilometers to go, it was very nervous and I had to pass to the right of a roundabout and lost a lot of places," he said. Philippe Gilbert (Omega Pharma-Lotto) won the race for the second straight year. Evans said he had no problems withdrawing. "I never finish this race," he said. "People keep asking me, 'What's wrong?' I tell them that I never finish this one. There's a long way to go on Saturday."
