21. May 2011

Monte Zoncolan, Italy

The entirety of the BMC Racing Team survived the climb of Monte Zoncolan – reknown as one of cycling's toughest climbs – Saturday at the Giro d'Italia.

Tschopp Remains 20th

Johann Tschopp was the first of the six BMC Racing Team riders to the top of the extraordinarily steep, 15 km climb lined with thousands of fans. Finishing 37th, 6:04 behind stage winner Igor Anton (Euskaltel-Euskadi), Tschopp held onto his 20th place overall, 13:17 behind race leader Alberto Contador (Team Saxo Bank-Sungard). Sunday's stage won't be much easier, reaching the highest point of this year's Giro.
