Eneco Tour Stage 5: Adam Blythe finished in the Top 10

10. augustus 2012

BMC Racing Team’s Adam Blythe sprinted for the 7th place of the Stage 5 of Eneco Tour that was concluded in a bunch sprint.

Great Team Work

It was a quiet stage overall for the BMC Racing Team, with the biggest difficulty of the 184.6-kilometers race during the last circuit of 21 km in Aalter ending with narrow roads in city centre. « In the last kilometres, Quinziato and Burghardt did a great job, to place Phinney and Blythe in front, we saw a strong team work. » said Assistant Sport Director Fabio Baldato. After the 3-men breakaway was caught back, the stage was concluded in massive sprint won by Giacomo Nizzolo (RadioShack-Nissan) and Tom Boonen (Omega Pharma-Quickstep) kept his leader’s jersey. Best placed for the BMC Racing Team, Adam Blythe crossed the line in 7th position “Taylor stayed in front to lead out Blythe and it work perfectly until the last 700 meters, maybe Adam hesitated too much in the last corner while he could have gone faster with a favourable wind”, explained Baldato. “Anyway it’s really not easy here to play the stage victory with all the big sprinter teams.”

Individual Time Trial Ahead

Friday’s stage 6 with a 17.4km individual time trial in Ardooie is already in the mind “We tried to play it safe before the last two stages coming Taylor is in strong condition and very motivated by the time trial, and we know we have cards to play there,” said Baldato.
