Criterium International Good Test For BMC Racing Team

25. March 2010

Porto-Vecchio, France

Competing in the Criterium International this weekend provides the BMC Racing Team with the perfect opportunity to put its stage racing squad – led by world champion Cadel Evans – to the test.

Mountainous Stage Saturday

The two-day, three-stage race in France opens with a 175.5 mountainous road race Saturday. Sunday is a 75.5 km road race, followed by a 7.7 km time trial. BMC Racing Team Director Sportif Lelangue said the race’s move from northern France to Corsica changes the complexion of the event many teams view as a warm-up for the Tour de France. “The big day will be the mountain stage on Saturday,” he said. “It has two nice climbs, plus the one to the finish. I think everyone wants to test themselves on those kinds of top climbs because there aren’t many opportunities like this before the Giro d’Italia. You can understand why we are going there with Cadel and why Alberto Contrador changed his plans to be there, as well as Lance Armstrong.”
