Circuit Franco-Belge, Stage 4: A Hard Finish

3. October 2010

Tournai, Belgium

Michael Schär (24th place) and Alessandro Ballan (66th) were the only two BMC Racing Team riders to survive Sunday's difficult final stage of Circuit Franco-Belge.

Typical Belgian Race

Jeff Louder and Simon Zahner were in an early move in the 164-kilometer race that ended on a circuit. "It was a pretty technical finale and you had to be very strong and on your game," Louder said. "Lots of gutter riding and echelons." Schär said he tried to look after Ballan, who finished 36th overall. "We came pretty good over the climb (but) it came down to a sprint," Schär said. "I had the wheel of (stage winner) Wouter Weylandt with 400 meters to go, but got boxed in, so it was not a good sprint for myself. We are all happy that we didn't crash."
