BMC Racing Team Signs Three As Stagiaires

2. August 2013

Two riders from the BMC Development Team and one from the BMC Mountainbike Racing Team have earned spots as stagiaires on the BMC Racing Team, President/General Manager Jim Ochowicz announced Friday.

Trio Will Gain Valuable Experience
Ochowicz said Julien Taramarcaz of the BMC Mountainbike Racing Team and BMC Development Team riders Silvan Dillier and Jakub Novak have displayed qualities that make them qualified to help the BMC Racing Team in select races the remainder of the season. "All three have shown the talent we are looking for when we evaluate young riders," Ochowicz said. "They will be able to gain valuable experience that builds on what they have already learned in the BMC programs." Taramarcaz, 25, won the 2012 Swiss cyclocross championship and earned a bronze medal in June at the Swiss mountain bike marathon championships. "It has always been my dream to ride on the road," he said. "I'm not bad in the mountains and I'm good in the nervous races with technical sections. I have been working hard for this and look forward to racing with the pro team."

Development Team Riders Get Call-Up
Dillier, 22, won the Swiss Under 23 road championship in June and earned the BMC Development Team's first victory at a stage race when he captured the Tour de Normandie in March. "I'm in quite good condition now and wonder how it will feel to race with this shape in a professional race," Dillier said. "I'm also excited to race with guys who have so much experience, so I hope I will learn a lot." Novak, 22, was the Under 23 Czech Republic time trial champion last year and led the Cascade Cycling Classic for one day last month on the way to finishing fourth overall. He also placed third overall at Triptyque Ardennais in May. "For me, it's a big challenge to work and do races with one of the best teams," he said. "It's a big opportunity for me and I want to thank the BMC Racing Team for this great chance."
