BMC Racing Team Roster For Austria Built On Climbers

28. June 2012

Three climbing specialists – Brent Bookwalter, Steve Morabito and Ivan Santaromita – who helped Cadel Evans win the Tour de France last year headline the BMC Racing Team's roster for the Tour of Austria.

Morabito Healthy Again
The eight-day race that begins Sunday features several mountainous stages, as well as a 24-kilometer individual time trial on the penultimate day. Morabito said he has fully recovered from the crash that knocked him out of the Amgen Tour of California. He also spent the past two weeks training at altitude with Evans. "The second stage with the finish on the top of the Kitzbüheler Horn will be the key stage of the race," he said. "It's a very steep climb so I hope I don't lose too much against the lighter climbers to make a difference in the time trial." BMC Racing Team Assistant Director Michael Sayers said there's no shortage of motivation on a squad that includes Johann Tschopp, who was runner-up at this race in 2005. "We have some guys who have something to prove so I'm hoping they step their games up and have a good race," he said.
