BMC Racing Team Ready For Paris-Tours

7. oktober 2011

Voves, France

The BMC Racing Team will field a versatile roster for Sunday's 105th edition of Paris-Tours.

Features New Finish

BMC Racing Team Directeur Sportif John Lelangue said there are three critical phases to the 230.5-kilometer fall classic that actually begins in Voves, France. "We'll be attentive to the first part with the side winds and echelons," Lelangue said. "In the second part, we know we have Alessandro Ballan and Greg Van Avermaet, who can go for it and maybe resist the peloton to the end. But if it comes to a sprint, we can play it for Taylor Phinney." Van Avermaet, a top 20 finisher here the past two years, said solid performances by nearly the same riders at Binche-Tournai-Binche and Circuit Franco-Belge – as well as a finish stretch reduced from 2.4 kilometers to 660 meters – are good signs. "The short, steep climbs suit me well in the end and we have a really strong team," Van Avermaet said. "The finish is also a bit closer after the climbs this year, which is better for the attacks. If you have a gap on the top, you can make it to the end."
