BMC Racing Team Motivated For Milan-San Remo

16. March 2011

Milan, Italy

Fresh off helping Cadel Evans to victory at Tirreno-Adriatico, many of the BMC Racing Team's same riders hope to continue that success at Milan-San Remo Saturday.

Motivated Riders

Team leaders Alessandro Ballan, Marcus Burghardt, George Hincapie and Greg Van Avermaet provide a number of options, BMC Racing Team Directeur Sportif John Lelangue said. Helped by Karsten Kroon, Manuel Quinziato, Michael Schär and Danilo Wyss, the team has a combined 38 participations in the 298-kilometer race. "With the strong team we have, we can play several cards and look to the selection that can happen on the final climbs," Lelangue said. Fabio Baldato, who will direct the squad, said teamwork will be key. "We might not have the strongest rider in the race, but we have one of the best teams. That makes it possible to do something special." Burghardt said the team is in good spirits: "Victories are always important for the sponsors and for the team and it's really good for the motivation. To have such a nice win so early in the season is motivation for the whole season."
