BMC Racing Team Has Options For Paris-Nice

3. maart 2011

Paris, France

With no designated leader for Paris-Nice, the BMC Racing Team brings a number of options into its first appearance in the eight-day race that begins Sunday.

Phinney Won't Start

BMC Racing Team Directeur Sportif John Lelangue said four riders - Brent Bookwalter, Amaël Moinard, Steve Morabito and Ivan Santaromita – could contest the overall. "It's a pretty difficult course this year, so I think it will be a race of movement (on the GC) almost every day," Lelangue said. U.S. national time trial champion Taylor Phinney is still recovering from a crash during a training ride, Lelangue said, and will not start as previously scheduled.

Moinard Confident
A four-time veteran of the race, Moinard said his win in the final stage last year (and King of the Mountains title) makes him a bit of a target. "This race can be a little complicated with wind, cold rain or even snow and it also being the first major stage race in Europe," he said. "I'm pretty sure of my physical condition, so I'm confident about doing something good."
