Adam Blythe Fourth At GP d'Isbergues

16. september 2012

BMC Racing Team's Adam Blythe registered his eighth top five result of the season with fourth place Sunday at GP d'Isbergues.

Top Speed Sprint
Blythe said the downhill nature of the finish and a concerted lead-out by Argos-Shimano for eventual race winner John Degenkolb made it difficult to challenge the rider who won five stages at the Vuelta a España. "The place where we started sprinting was pretty much the place we wound up," Blythe said. "I got around one guy, but with the finish being downhill – with a lot of downhill before it – we were already at top speed before we even started sprinting." Assistant Director Michael Sayers said the BMC Racing Team did its share to help bring back a pair of riders who attacked from the start and gained an 11-minute lead at one point. "In the hilly section, we did some chasing to maintain good position for Greg Van Avermaet and Blythe," Sayers said. The two escapees were caught with 35 kilometers to go in the 203.9 km race.
