Another injury for Kohler

13. May 2010

Zürich, Switzerland

BMC Racing Team’s Martin Kohler came through the operation Tuesday on his broken collarbone very well. However, the doctors discovered that he also has a broken wrist bone.

According to reports, the surgery at the Schulthess Clinic in Zurich proceeded without any complications. “After waking up, I was in extreme pain. The bones were screwed with plates,” explained Martin Kohler, who suffered an unfortunate crash during the second stage of the Giro on Sunday.

Hand immobilized for six weeks
In spite of the successful operation, there was bad news for the Swiss rider. The doctors discovered that his wrist bone was also broken. “That was a big shock for me. Now the hand has to be immobilized with a splint for six weeks. At most, I’ll be able to train on the stationary bike,” said Kohler. He still doesn’t know if and when he’ll be able to compete again this season.
