The BMC Granfondo Experience 2014

Across Cobbles and Continents: the BMC Granfondo Experience 2014 - Done and Dusted

The 6 international finalists of the BMC Granfondo Experience 2014 arrived in Belgium on the 2nd of April like a group of excited school kids. There was excitement, anticipation, and a healthy layer of fear on top of all the friendlier emotions. After all, the trip wasn't just a fun visit to Belgium to watch the Ronde van Vlaanderen, it was much more. The BMC Granfondo Experience team, a motely crew of Brazillian, British, American, German, Belgian and Swedish personalities, would ride the same route as the professional cyclists in a sportive event called the Ronde van Vlaanderen Cyclo. In the words of Jim Ochowiz, BMC Racing Team Director, "you guys are crazy, the Ronde van Vlaanderen is one of the toughest one-day races that exists - for the professionals!"

Only 2 of the 6 BMC Granfondo Experience finalists had ever ridden over 200km. There were countless conversations about how to approach the 245km ride that lay ahead of them, how many layers to wear, what food to eat, whether to go hard on the hills or not - each one was coping in their own way with the daunting task. But, one thing was sure: the following four days would leave a deep impression of unforgettable memories in their minds...and legs.

Take a look at the following galleries of photos for a taste of what happened in Belgium.
