Riederer leads Team Switzerland I to 2nd place in the team relay Worlds at home

22. August 2011

After winning two titles in 2009 and 2010, Team Switzerland I with its anchor Riederer achieved a strong second place behind the dominant British. As early as Saturday, the BMC athletes turned in some good performances over the sprint distance as part of the World Championship in Lausanne.

Following the victories in the last two years, the starting position before the third team relay World Championship was considerably more difficult. More teams, each with two women and two men, were at the starting line who were convinced they had a chance at victory. Great Britain started as the clear favorite with the signature members Jonathan and Alistar Brownlee as well as the champion of the Olympics practice run in London, Helen Jenkins. Throughout the four-fold 265-meter swim, 5-kilometer bike ride and 1.2-kilometer run, the Swiss Team once again showed a balanced performance and secured the highly rated second place behind the outstanding Team Great Britain I.
