3rd place at BMC Racing Cup in Lenzerheide for Julien Absalon, Martin Fanger second in the XC Eliminator

13. July 2014

BMC Racing Cup - Lenzerheide

BMC's partner destination Lenzerheide was the host for the 6th round of the BMC Racing Cup held from 12 - 13 July. The weather conditions leading up to the weekend were very difficult as rain showers and cold air dominated the weather forecast all week. The track which will host three cross country World Cup races from 2015 onwards, as well as the World Championships in 2018, attracted many top riders. Just like the previous week in Montsevelier, Julien Absalon finished third and was again the team's best rider. In light of the upcoming nationals as well as the overseas World Cups, leader Absalon expressed satisfaction about the development of his shape. "The track was technically and physically demanding. Just what a World Cup course should be like", so the Frenchman.

Näf who helped develop the course was, however, not pleased with his performance. „I had to suffer lots today as my preparation was not ideal" explained Näf. He crossed the finish line in eighth position. „The only thing that made my job bearable was my full suspension bike (fourstroke FS01 equipped with electronic suspension system from Fox).

Lukas Flückiger was the second best BMC rider and crossed the finish line in fourth position. At the start of the race he could not keep up with the leading trio but managed to close the gap on the penultimate lap. „The steep climb on asphalt right at the start of the lap was a toughie. I only found the power to ride to the front towards the end of the race," confessed Flückiger, who would have preferred to stay up front from the start.

Martin Fanger competed in the Eliminator race on Friday evening. He was fired up and ready to win the final. He missed his pedal at the start and was the last out of the grid but he caught up and was in the end only beaten by Marcel Wildhaber, the current Swiss XCE Champion.
