After years of evolution, the latest generation of trailfox is more of a revolution. It has grown bigger, has a wilder character, and is more capable than ever before. Riding up a hill in an efficient manner to earn the thrill of the downhill is the most natural desire from the mountain biking experience, and it’s exactly what enduro racing is all about. That is why the trailfox was developed together with our world-class enduro riders: to achieve the combination of uphill efficiency and enormous downhill capabilities.

Concept

Confidence Inspiring: The combination of BWC geometry, APS suspension, and 29er wheels boosts your confidence to attack any obstacle on the trail. The relaxed angles, low center of gravity, wide bars and short stem give you the control you need, be it in steep technical sections or at high speed. The big wheels help you with increased stability at high speed, to better roll over in technical sections and provide enormous grip.

Agile: While many thought the combination of big travel, 29er wheels and short chainstays was impossible, BMC proves the contrary with the trailfox. Sure, this was not an easy task. As always, BMC took the challenge and invested our engineering power to achieve this goal. Why? Because it is exactly what we wanted to ride! The short chainstays in combination with a short stem and low bottom bracket are key to the agility you experience on the trailfox. This agility in combination with the sure-footedness of the big wheels allows you to play with the terrain on a whole new level.

Efficient: While the trailfox has grown in downhill capability, it has maintained its notorious climbing efficiency. The 29er wheels reduce rolling resistance and increase grip, while the APS suspension offers the best traction and optimized power transfer thanks to its anti-squat characteristics. The TF02 frame features a carbon front triangle matched with a more economic aluminium rear triangle. All stiffness values remain identical to the full carbon TF01 model.

Attention to Detail: When developing the new trailfox, no corners were cut. We looked into every detail to provide the options you might want while keeping the bike clean and sleek. A clever internal cable routing system allows any configuration you could wish for. Our proprietary chain management system makes sure you never drop a chain. A low stand over height adds even more confidence but we still found enough room for a piggy-back shock and bottle cage. For those who want to ride single chainring the FD mount can be removed and ISCG mounts provide the option to mount a chain guide. Because the cockpit is so essential for the handling, we developed our own handlebar as part of the Big Wheel Concept for the trailfox.

Big Wheel Concept

Our Big Wheel Concept geometries are dedicated to the 29er wheel size.

Simply incorporating bigger wheels does not by itself make a better bike, and we are convinced that the best bikes are made by taking advantage of large wheels and a deliberate geometry. For BMC, performance is not about the size, it’s about the details.

Agility - Short chain stays and stem combined with a low bottom bracket means the bike in not only efficient but also fun and lively.

Stability - Slacker than usual head angle combined with a long top and wide handlebars help you stay in control through the worst lines.

APS

advanced pivot system

Unsurpassed power transmission, traction control, and comfort.

The ideal suspension system converts all of a rider's energy into forward propulsion, while at the same time absorbing impacts. Mechanically, these two goals are at odds with one another. But BMC's APS rear suspension satisfies these two goals by carefully calculating the pivot points of the rear suspension so that inertial force generated under acceleration is not misdirected into compressing the shock.

How is this accomplished? With APS the virtual pivot point is positioned so that constant chain tension is maintained for forward acceleration. As such, pedaling forces are used for forward propulsion with no loss of energy transfer in the suspension system. At the same time, the shock system ensures optimum rear wheel traction, guaranteeing that those pedaling forces are not only getting to the rear wheel, but to the ground, as well. The end result is a suspension system that provides extreme power transfer efficiency, uncanny traction, and excellent comfort.
