Tour de Pologne, Stage 4: Frank Moves Into Top 10

13. July 2012

Mathias Frank moved from 12th to ninth overall after Friday's stage of the Tour de Pologne. The BMC Racing Team rider remains 12 seconds off the lead with three days to go.

Scare Before The Start
Frank's teammate, Danilo Wyss, received quite a scare before the start of the 127.8-kilometer stage when a woman stepped out in front of him, knocking him from his BMC. Neither was hurt and, after changing bikes, Wyss finished the race that ended in a bunch sprint won by Aidis Kroupis (Orica-GreenEDGE). The BMC Racing Team did have Greg Van Avermaet and Danilo Wyss in an early break of 11 but they were never given much freedom. "It's too bad they couldn't get more than 40 seconds because it was a break of really strong guys," BMC Racing Team Assistant Director Max Sciandri said. Michal Kwiatkowski (Omega Pharma-Quick Step) took over the race lead from Moreno Moser (Liquigas-Cannondale), who won the opening stage.
