Tour de Pologne Concludes In Bunch Sprint

6. August 2011

Kraków, Poland

Alexander Kristoff was the BMC Racing Team's best finisher on the stage (16th) and Mauro Santambrogio (26th) wound up as the squad's top placer overall as the Tour de Pologne concluded in a mass sprint Saturday.

Too Far Back

Kristoff, who finished second on the race's opening stage, said he felt fatigued throughout the 128 kilometer circuit race in Kraków. "With one kilometer to go I was too far back, but was hoping someone with a train would come through from behind," the Norwegian national road champion said. "But nobody came and then someone crashed in front of me and I hit the brakes." Marcel Kittel (Skil-Shimano) won his fourth stage and Peter Sagan (Liquigas-Cannondale) took the overall by virtue of a time bonus for finishing second on the day.
