BMC Racing Team's Mathias Frank and Johann Tschopp finished with the front group Friday on the first mountain-top finish of the Giro d'Italia.

Kohler Loses Green Jersey

Frank placed 28th (at 10 seconds) and Tschopp was 44th (at :31) as Bart de Clercq (Omega Pharma-Lotto) narrowly held on to win the 110-kilometer stage. Pieter Weening (Rabobank) kept the overall lead. By winning at the summit, de Clercq overtook BMC Racing Team's Martin Kohler by one point in the King of the Mountains classification. "Mathias and Johann did a good job of following the leaders today," BMC Racing Team Assistant Director Fabio Baldato said. "It was a bit tactical, with the big teams controlling the final climb."
