BMC Racing Team Ready For Sprint Finish At Vattenfall

16. August 2012

An expected bunch sprint finish at Sunday's Vattenfall Cyclassics should suit either Adam Blythe or Greg Van Avermaet, BMC Racing Team Assistant Director Rik Verbrugghe said.

Ready For Several Scenarios
The one-day, 245.9-kilometer race that starts and finishes in Hamburg, Germany, poses a number of scenarios that will be favorable for the BMC Racing Team Verbrugghe said. "We have two good guys for the sprint in Adam and Greg and tere is also the climb of the Waseberg that's 10 km before the finish," Verbrugghe said. "A lot of times you will see attacks there. So if there are strong riders, sometimes a small group can come to the finish, too." Verbrugghe said that situation would suit Marcus Burghardt, who will be racing in his home country. "It's nice to race at home and the fans are always very enthusiastic for the last WorldTour race we have in Germany," Burghardt said. "I hope for a free role in the race so I can try to go into a late breakaway that can make it to the finish." That was precisely the scenario in last year's ProRace Berlin when Burghardt was the last rider of a nine-man breakaway to be caught – just 250 meters from the finish line.
